NM500 and NM550 wear-resistant plate
NM500 and NM550 wear-resistant plates are high-hardness abrasion-resistant steel plates widely used in mining machinery, construction equipment, material handling systems and other applications where components are continuously exposed to wear.
NM500 and NM550 represent different hardness levels. Under GB/T 24186-2022, for plate thicknesses up to 70 mm, NM500 wear-resistant steel plate has a surface hardness of 470–540 HBW, while NM550 wear-resistant steel plate has a surface hardness of 520–580 HBW.
GNEE supplies NM500 and NM550 wear plates in different thicknesses and dimensions, with cutting and customized fabrication available for overseas projects.

NM500 and NM550 Wear Plate Specifications
Both grades are designed for applications where ordinary structural steel may wear too quickly.

NM550 has a higher hardness level than NM500, while both grades are intended for demanding wear applications.
What Is NM500 Wear-Resistant Steel Plate?
NM500 wear-resistant steel plate is a high-hardness wear plate commonly used for components exposed to continuous abrasion and material impact.
Its combination of hardness and structural performance makes it suitable for manufacturing wear parts such as:
- Mining machinery liners
- Excavator bucket components
- Dump truck bodies
- Hoppers
- Chutes
- Crusher components
- Material handling equipment
NM500 is especially suitable where high wear resistance is required while the plate still needs cutting, drilling, bending or welding fabrication.

What is NM550 Wear-Resistant Steel Plate?
NM550 wear-resistant steel plate belongs to a higher hardness class and is designed for more demanding abrasion conditions.
For thicknesses up to 70 mm, its specified surface hardness reaches 520–580 HBW. This makes NM550 suitable for wear parts exposed to severe sliding abrasion and high material throughput.
Typical applications include:
- Heavy-duty mining equipment
- Crusher wear parts
- High-wear liners
- Heavy-duty hoppers
- Chutes
- Bucket wear components
- Industrial wear parts

NM500 and NM550 Wear Plate Inspection
Before shipment, NM500 and NM550 plates can be inspected according to order requirements.
Typical inspection items include:
Hardness testing, chemical composition, dimensions, surface condition, ultrasonic testing and mill test certificate verification.
For wear-resistant steel, actual hardness is an important quality-control item. Buyers can request the corresponding MTC and additional inspection according to project requirements.
